The bag is done!!! I finished it last night with my free sewing machine. That’s right, I said FREE! Here’s the story: I picked up this sewing machine off of someone on Freecycle something like a year ago. I have not had the chance to use it or even play with it too much to see if it works. Last night I took the opportunity since I wanted to finish the bag with a nice stitch, and not my messy hand sewing. Please let me know what you guys think, and I really, really, really hope my pal likes the bag.
After playing with it for a while to fix the tension, it worked like a dream! It’s a 30 year old machine (about as old as I am), and it works great and I’m happy. As you can see in the picture below, the lining came out awesome! The color is perfect for the ‘Fisherman’ color of the purse and the bamboo handles. Granted the handles were supposed to be solid wood, but I’m a dork and I’m out of time, so I can’t wait around for it’s friend.

Is there anyone out there that doesn’t know about Ravelry? Don’t know what Ravelry is? Here’s a snippet of there about page:
Ravelry is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration.
The content here is all user- driven; we as a community make the site what it is. The Yarn Harlot wrote recently about Representing, showing the world the power of our community, and I believe that on this site we can really show the strength of our numbers and the depth of our creativity.
So what can you personally do on Ravelry? You can talk about your own projects, integrate that information into your personal website and contribute to someone else’s project a world away.
If you are not a blogger, we give you a great way to share and show off your projects, participate in -alongs, and socialize with other crafters. If you are a blogger than Ravelry is the perfect complement to your online journal; it provides structure and organization. All of your information is easy to enter and easy to find. You will not need to update your own FO album again- it is all here on Ravelry!
I signed up a long time ago, and since this is on Beta still, it was by invitation only, and I just got my invite, so here’s my place in the Ravelry world. It’s going to take me a while to get myself settled in here, but for now you can see some of the stuff I’ve worked on.
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I figured I would do this one. From Luna Nina:

I had a great weekend this past weekend. I was planning on getting a lot of knitting time put in, but I didn’t. Instead, I spent my weekend like this.
I was out in the middle of no where, with the boat and the two boys I love the most, so as you could see, knitting took the back seat this weekend. I did get the longer circ I needed though as it was on the way to my final destination, and I did take pictures of what the shawl is starting to look like, so here you go.
This is what I’m currently working on, at least the area of the shawl. As I said in one of my last posts, I’m currently on fifth repeat of chart two. This seems to be taking forever! I’m definitely hitting the knitting black hole, because it seems as if I knit and knit and I get no where. This doesn’t seem to be growing at all, yet I’ve put hours into it and nothing. I’m no closer to my ultimate goal this stupid thing seems as if it hasn’t grown an inch.
I was finally able to stretch it out some so I could see the pattern in the center, and I love it! I think it looks absolutely beautiful and I’m amazed that *I* knit this!
This Friday start the Mystery Stole clues and I’m not sure yet if I should reclaim the black mohair that I used for the “HOLY-COW-I-NEED-THIS-SHRUG-NOW!” shrug as the shrug got a huge gaping hole in one of the sleeves the first day I wore it and it either needs to be repaired or redone, or if I should use the blue mohair from the frogged Maggie Sweater. They were both knit from Rowan Kidsilk Haze, so it should be really nice for a lace stole. They suggest a dark color for the stole, like the black, which would be nice, but I was thinking that the blue would be nice because then I could use it with jeans and such and it’s a more summery color then the black, so I don’t know. I guess the first thing I should do is figure out how much of each I have and go from there.
By the way, there is a picture that I need to share, because I don’t know how in the world I managed to do this, and I don’t think I could manage this ever again even if I had tried, so let me explain what happened. This was taken during breakfast. I had a glass of water and went to take a sip. Once I took my sip and looked down, I saw this. This was a sign…a sign of good things to come that day.
I’m feeling a bit nutty and masochistic right now. I’m still working on the Frost Flowers and Leaves shawl that seems to be never ending right now as I just started on the 5th repeat of the second chart, but for some unknown reason I thought “hey, I could use some more lace knitting!” and I decided to join the Mystery Stole 3 KAL. Yes, admittedly, this is a bit crazy as I have enough projects to work on, but hey, what’s one more!? Anyone else interested in joining, you have until July 6th to sign up, then sign-ups will be closed, so hurry up and go sign up! This should be a fun KAL.

I’m most probably going to hit Joann’s tonight to pick up a pair of handles for the Tote Exchange bag, as well as some thread for the lining. I’m a bit excited about this because I’m going to try out the sewing machine that I picked up on Freecycle to get the lining just right and give it that professionally put together look, as opposed to hand sewing it like I usually do. I’ve had it sitting around for a while and have not had the opportunity to test it out yet, so now is a good a time as any to test it! I want to have the bag done and shipped by this weekend, so today would be a good day to work on this, and also because there’s some changes. As much as I LOVE the handles I wanted to go with, as I explained in a previous post, I’m not going to be able to, so I decided that the next best thing would be straight handles to make it more like a clutch, so I may need to work up the end a bit so that when I add the handles there’s enough room underneath to be able to comfortably hold the bag, so I need to work on that, as well as the lining, and have it all put together by tonight (hopefully!) I’ll let you all know how it worked out.
