Stitch n’ Pitch

Yesterday was Miami’s Stitch n’ Pitch, of which I had planned way ahead of time to go to. I and about 14 other girls from my group attended and we all had such a great time! The Marlins lost 9-2 against the Pirates, but I’m completely convinced this has something to do with my attendance. It seems that every time I attend a Marlins game they lose, so maybe I should just stay away.

Anyways, we had great seats! They were club level seats right above the opposing teams dugout, so we had a great view of the field, we were under the overhang at Joe Robbie (I’m dating myself here) so we weren’t fully exposed to the sun, and there was a great breeze. They were such great seat we could fully see into the Marlins dugout!

I had taken my Solstice Slip sock to get some good knitting time into it, seeing as it probably should be done by now, but I’m the worlds biggest procrastinator, and now that I’ve discovered spinning, even more so! Now my knitting is competing with my spinning when I’m home.

I took this picture at the beginning of the game. I was half way done with the heel by the time the game was over. The Marlins did their best, I’m sure. There were a couple of great plays but unfortunately they were having problems with their pitchers, and that’s basically what killed them.

Even though, we all worked on our knitting projects, and we all had a great time!

What I found most disturbing was the lack of attendance. Granted the weatherman had been saying all week that it was going to be a crappy day, but as you can see from the pictures, it most certainly was not! It was a gorgeous day, with loads of sun and a nice breeze all day. Granted that night we had some serious thunderstorms, so they may have been off by a couple of hours which they’re known for, but still! Attendance for these games has always been pretty bad, and that’s sad. The good part though is because of this attendance we were on the Jumbotron thing at least 4 times! I’ve never been on the Jumbotron, and yesterday I came out FOUR TIMES! That was cool!

I’m the one in the middle holding the camera. We had a great time, and I would totally love to do this again, as long as I can bring the Marlins some luck.

In crafty news: I finished spinning and plying some new fiber last night that are totally calling out to be a pair of Jaywalkers, and I think I’m going to have to oblige. I bought 8 oz of this from Spunky Eclectic. It was colorway of the month last month, and I just got around to spinning it up. It’s called Neopolitan, and it’s totally fitting. It’s chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.

I navajo plied this skein as well because I wanted to try and preserve the colors so that it would stripe just right for the Jaywalkers. I basically didn’t want too many barber poles. There are some barber poles within it, but not too many. I do think though that I may have over plied it some so I’m going to put it back through the wheel and try to take some of the spin off of it. I whacked it, I weighed it down, and it still kind of turns to one side. It doesn’t do it too much, just enough to drive me crazy though. I still have another 4 oz of this stuff to spin up, so I’m going to do that during the week, and I also have my fiber from the Spunky Club that I haven’t even fondled yet that I would love to turn it into something as well.
