I finally finished it! I finished it this morning, blocked it and here it is! It didn’t take long to dry. Actually, it dried fairly quickly. I have a fan in my bedroom, so I’m assuming that’s why it dried so quickly.
I took this first picture while it was drying, and all the subsequent ones afterwards. It took me forever to finish this thing, and I think it came out good. I’m not too sure about the transition of the stole to the wing, and I’ve heard others who have the same complaint. It just seems like such a break between the stole and the wings, and it doesn’t seem as if it really goes together. I have Coco’s seal of approval though.

I think I’m going through Harry Potter withdrawl because I just signed up for another swap! It’s not enough that I’m participating in Secret Pal 11, but now I’m also doing the Harry Potter Sock/Scarf Kit Swap too! I couldn’t help myself though, and this kit isn’t due until Halloween (YIPEEE!!! I love Halloween!) so I have plenty of time to get my kit bag knit and gather the supplies needed for the swap…I think. This should be fun! I went ahead and got sorted, and guess what house I belong to?

This is really no big surprise to me as I feel I have all the qualities of the Gryffindor house. Tee hee. I’m such a Harry Potter nut!
Ok, well that’s enough for Harry Potter stuff as today I also received my ROCKIN SOCK CLUB PACKAGE!!! I was not expecting this at all! I love these neat little surprises that pop up in the mail for me! The color way is SO beautiful! It’s called Flower Power and is a great combination of typical tye-dye colors (as if the name of the color doesn’t give it away!). I just got this today, and I’m at work, so I’ll have to snap a pic of it when I get home tonight. I’ve also been seriously working on my Mystery Stole, so I have to snap pictures of that too, and I haven’t even picked up the Inside Out Socks since I discovered the leg was being knit too tight. In my defense though, time has run out! It’s hard to keep track of the house and all my other responsibilities (and obsessions) now that school has started! I’ve also been wanting to put together a couple of pages in my scrapbook and I haven’t been able to do that either, but my house is REALLY clean!
I’ve, yet again, picked up knitting the Mystery Stole. I’m in the process of trying to finish up clue 5 so that I can move on and try to get this thing finished within the next couple of days (hopefully!). Whether this will actually happens or not is up to speculation as there’s a ton of things that I have to do this weekend and next to prepare for school and there’s a ton of things I need/want to do around the house as well, other then sit around and knit. I’m going to attempt to take a progress photo some time this weekend while I’m taking care of all this stuff so that I could post it up for you all.
I also did two repeats of the Inside Out socks, but I need to rip out the leg and start over again because it’s just coming out way too tight and I don’t want a repeat of the ultra tight jaywalker socks that I need to redo, so, a-ripping I will go.
This sock is really nice, and I’m loving how it feels. I try things on as I knit, because I’m just OCD like that, and these socks are by far the comfiest socks I’ve knit. Not to mention, knitting these have taught me a lot about how to work a sock in a different method, and I don’t have the dreaded holes that I always get when I knit short row socks. They’re awesome! I’m loving it.
It’s a bit ironic that I’m knitting things the way I have been lately, because I’ve been reading from Stephanie’s book “Yarn Harlot: The secret Life of a Knitter” and I just finished reading the chapter about her trying to get control of her ginormous pile of UFO’s and how she intended to finish them all and be a one knitting project at a time knitter, and that’s kind of what I’m trying to do as well. I’ve got a couple (or 5) projects that have been sitting around and I really do need to finish them, so I think I’m going to get inspired by Stephanie finishing the pile of 35(!) UFO’s that she had stashed and hidden all over the house.
I have been missing in action as of late. The past week has been the week from hell for me and I have, quite frankly, not had time to think or breathe, or knit for that matter, so that’s why I haven’t updated. I did however receive my package from the International Tote Exchange, and I did send mine out as well. Pictures of my bag will be posted a little later as I haven’t really taken pictures yet. I did however come home Saturday afternoon after one of the saddest days in the whole world to find a neat little box waiting for me in my mailbox that contained this:

That just made my day! There’s a couple other packages that I received as well which contained the following:

The later being a book I’ve wanted for a really long time and have not had the opportunity to buy until now. The Mason Dixon book I’ve also wanted for some time, and finally found a reason to get it! My recent cleaning obsession which has been put on hold while I put my life back together again is the reason why I got this book. It has great patterns for nice dishcloths, and the pattern for the Absorba rug that I would like to make for the little ones bathroom. I’m sure he would love it, so I bought it as well. Now I just need to find time to knit it!
I’ve been trying to work on my Mystery Stole, but with so much going on the past week I just haven’t been able to find the time to get any knitting done, which is pretty sad if you ask me. I just don’t have the energy! Unfortunately, I can’t publish what happened because there are eyes watching this blog that I’d rather wouldn’t, so if you’d like to know what happened, email me personally at luckylady777 {AT} gmail {DOT} com and I’ll let you know.
I just wanted to come on here and update this and let you all know that I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth, but have been a wreck for the past week and have really not had much to update with because of it. I will try and get the pictures of the tote up as soon as possible though and a progress pic of the mystery stole.
I got Friday’s clue and haven’t really been knitting the stole like I should be. I’ve been busy. You see, I decided to try out Flylady to get myself a little better organized, because as of now I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t been as organized as I’d like, but then again, I’m a bit of a perfectionist. So, I got about 6 rows of the Mystery Stole done. I also decided that since I was now flying that I need some new dishcloths, so I spent Saturday evening/night knitting two new dishcloths.
See how shiny my sink is? This is thanks to Flylady. My house is clean and it’s starting to get decluttered as well. I’m doing things around the house and it doesn’t feel like work. It’s becoming a routine, which is exactly what Flylady tries to teach. Anyways, this is the new dishcloth. It’s knit in Sugar n’ Cream in a denim/pink colors. I couldn’t tell what color exactly it is, but I like how it came out. I also like the stitches.
It’s very simple and very nice. The size is awesome too! I like how big it came out. I think this is one of the bigger ones I have knit. Most of the other ones are about 5-6″ squared, this one is 9″! Since I’ve been ‘flying’ I’ve had to use dishcloths around the kitchen, I came to understand how wonderful these things clean. It’s a little scary using it at first because when you knit it you put so much love into them that when you use them and get them all dirty you get scared! But they survive very nicely I might add, and keep doing their job like they’re supposed to.
I also knit another one using 1870 Pearls 4 Corners pattern but I have not been able to document that one yet. The nice thing is that they were both two quick knits that I was able to complete and I felt like I accomplished something.
