Secret Pal 11

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely not like?

This is a hard one, because I love so many! I don’t really have a preference, but if I had to choose, I would be your basic wool or cotton knitter.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

A wicker basket, a mug, or lately a plastic pencil case, which works really well because it makes my DPN’s portable.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I have been knitting for about 3 years now, and am self taught. I would consider myself maybe an intermediateknitter?

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

Yes! This one is for my architecture related books, and this one is for knitting related stuff books.

5. What’s your favorite scent?

I would have to say either Vanilla or Lavender, and any earthy scents. I love burning Patchouli or Frankincense incense in my house because of the smell of it.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

I have a sweet tooth period! I don’t really think I have a favorite candy though.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

I’m an architecture student, so I build models a lot for class. I’ve also recently started scrapbooking as well.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like just about anything from Metallica to Outkast, and also more experimental music like Bjork and, what I call, girly music like Tori Amos and PJ Harvey.

9. What’s your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can’t stand?

I love pink! I’m just an all out girl. I guess the colors I’m not too fond of may be certain green and oranges (the darker shades), but I don’t really think I can say that I can’t stand them.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I’m not married, but I guess you could say I’m in a common law marriage. I’ve been living with my boyfriend for two years now and I help raise his 9 year old son, and I also have two black cats.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

I wears scarves and mittens, if it’s ever cold enough for it!

12. What is/are your favorite items to knit?

Socks!

13. What are you knitting right now?

I’m trying to finish my Pomatomous socks and the Rockin Sock Club socks, as well as the Mystery Stole and Frost Flowers and Leaves Shawl.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Yes.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Circular and Bamboo.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

I own a winder, but no swift….yet.

17. How old is your oldest UFO? About two years.

I’ve been trying to finish an afghan, but I just don’t seem to have the time, but I’m thinking of ripping it out.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

Yule! Hands down!

19. Is there anything that you collect?

This may be silly, but VW model cars. Only VW’s though. I have a thing for VW’s.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I have a subscription to Interweave Knits. Off the top of my head, I don’t really think there’s anything that I’m dying to get my hands on, but I’ll let you know if there is something.

21. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn?

I was thinking of trying the Intrelac socks in the latest Interweave issue.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes! I don’t have the measurements with me right now, so I’ll have to get back to you guys on this.

23. When is your birthday?

August 16. I’m a roaring Leo!

YES! It’s my new addiction. I’m craftygirly on Ravelry.

“Fall Into Autumn” Dishcloth Swap

1. Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been doing it?

I was taught to crochet when I was about 8 by my grandmother. I taught myself to knit (with the help of this here handy internet thing and books) about 3-4 years ago.

2. Have you made dischloths before? Do you use them yourself, give them as gifts, or both?

I’ve made them, I use them, and I love them!

3. 
   What’s your favorite cotton to make cloths from? What cotton would you like to try that you haven’t before ?

I usually use Sugar n’ Cream, but I have a hole TON of Peaches n’ Cream on the way for Absorba and some other stuff I’m working on for my SP11

4. If you knit, do you prefer circular or straight needles? For all, do you prefer wooden, metal, or plastic needles?

I despise plastic needles! I usually use straight for dishclothes in either metal or wood, depending on what I have.

5. What are your favorite colors? Any colors you don’t like much?

I love earthy tones and then there’s my obsession with pink, as you can tell from my blog.

6. What do you like best about Autumn?

It seems as if there’s this persistent smell of yummy food in the air, and the air seems to get crisper. I don’t see any change in season since I live in Miami and it’s something like 105 degrees year round, but in the fall it goes down to 95 and you can feel the difference.

7. Pies: Pumpkin? Apple? Pecan? All of em? or No Thanks!

Taste: Pumpkin, hands down! Smell: Apple with cinnamon.

8. When you were a kid, were you the one who couldn’t wait to get started with school , or the one who overslept on the 1st day?

Couldn’t wait to get started, and still am. Then after I week I wonder what the hell I was so excited about.

   Do you celebrate Halloween? (The real key here guys is especially knowing if you have an aversion to the holiday or little goodies/decorations associated with it, given the timeframe of the swap)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HALLOWEEN (aka Samhain)!!!!

10. If you had to choose just 3 edible ‘goodies’ to eat for a full year, what 3 would you choose?

I only get to choose 3!!!! Chocolate, loads of chocolate, vanilla stuff, I love me some key lime pie, being that I have the Keys within a semi-short drive away.

11. Do you have any pets? Kids? Husbands who seem like kids?

I have a Boyfriend who is a big kids, a stepson who is the light of my life, and 2 wacky cats that are polar opposites when it comes to their personalities.

12. If you were to describe a particular yarn that shares traits of your personality, what would it be and why?

I’ll have to get back to this one.

13. Do you use your cloths mostly for dishcloths, or as facecloths?
    Mostly dishcloths. I’ve never used one as a face cloth.
    
14. Favorite Fall Holiday: Halloween or Thanksgiving and why? (Feel free to share another fall memory if you do not celebrate either of these holidays)

HALLOWEEN!!! It’s the only time of the year that I get to dress up and not have people look at me weird.

Nope!

I prefer circs, but I’ll use Bamboo DPN’s.

I never really gave it much thought. As long as it does what it needs to do, I’m fine with it.
